Pipalkoti Tunnel accident: Instructions to speed up rescue operation, orders for immediate assistance to affected families.।

Chamoli, August 14. Following the accident at the under-construction THDC tunnel in Mayapur (Pipalkoti), Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting with officials at the THDC Guest House in Pipalkoti. He reviewed the relief and rescue operations and stated that the safe evacuation of the remaining three people trapped in the tunnel was the top priority.
The Chief Minister directed that all available resources and technical expertise be effectively utilized, while expediting the rescue operation. He urged for better coordination between the NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, police, administration, and THDC teams, and for special attention to the safety of the rescue teams.
He directed continuous monitoring of the tunnel’s technical condition, drainage, and debris removal work. He also called for prompt provision of compensation and assistance to the families of those killed in the accident, as per regulations, and for ensuring better medical care for the injured.
The Chief Minister also directed that all possible administrative support be provided to the affected families. Cabinet Minister Bharat Chaudhary, Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta, District Panchayat President Daulat Singh Bisht, Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swaroop, Garhwal Inspector General Rajiv Swaroop, District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar, Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panwar, and other officials and public representatives were present at the meeting.
