Police arrested a man accused of raping a minor; SSP said there is zero tolerance for crimes against children.

Haldwani. Taking a tough stance on crimes against minor children, the Nainital police swiftly arrested a rape accused. After registering a case in the Mukhani police station area, the accused was arrested on August 13th .

According to the police, the minor’s mother filed a complaint at the Mukhani police station, accusing Mohammad Azam, alias Afzal, of raping and assaulting the minor behind a brick wall near the Abdullah Petrol Pump. Based on the complaint, the police registered FIR number 126/2026 and charged the accused under relevant sections of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and Sections 3/4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Given the seriousness of the case, a police team, under the direction of Nainital SSP Dr. Manjunath TC, immediately launched a search for the accused. Under the leadership of Inspector-in-Charge Mukhani Sushil Joshi, the police team arrested the accused , Mohammad Azam alias Afzal (40 years old) . The investigation of the case has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Deepa Joshi .

SSP Dr. Manjunath TC stated that the Nainital Police have a zero-tolerance policy regarding crimes against minor children. Prompt and strict legal action will be ensured against those involved in such serious crimes.
